Hall of Fame
Distinguished himself as one of Roanoke’s finest trackmen ever, as a member of both cross country and track and field teams from 1968 to 1972 lettering and serving as captain and/or co-captain all four years.
In 1969, Bast set the school record in the two-mile run. In 1970, Bast ran undefeated in cross country, earning the Outstanding Cross Country and Trackmen Awards. In 1971, Bast captured the Mason Dixon Games title for the mile run, set the College’s mile run record, and scored the most points for the season.
