Arrington distinguished himself as an athlete and coach at Roanoke College.
From 1959-63, Arrington was one of the premier track performers in Virginia. He reigned as both discus and shot put champion in the Mason Dixon Conference. He was also team captain of the track team.
A member of the Monogram Club, Arrington was awarded the Blue Key Athletic Award
Served Roanoke as Assistant Director of Admissions, Dean of Men, Assistant Professor of Physical Education, Director of Intramurals, Assistant Athletic Director and track and cross country coach from 1969-74. In 1974, Arrington received the Cosmopolitan Club Award for track and field contributions.
