Another of the great performers to come out of the Roanoke track program (1951-55), Noel starred in both track and cross country and was captain of both sports in 1954 and 1955.

A member of the Monogram Club, he helped lead the Maroons to "Little Seven" Cross Country Championships in 1953, ’54, and ’55.  Noel was Mason-Dixon Champion in both the indoor and outdoor mile in addition to Little Seven mile and two mile champion.

In 1951, Noel reset his own record in cross country.  In 1955, he set records at Bridgewater, VMI, Salem, and in the Mason Dixon meet.
