Roanoke College

A member of Monogram Club, Doran was co-captain of the 1948 Virginia State Championship basketball team.  He was named Virginia All-State as a senior.  He is considered arguably one of the best players in Roanoke’s basketball history. 

In track and field, Doran excelled in dashes, shot put, discus, high jump, broad jump and javelin---setting records in many of these events. 

He was instrumental with Homer Bast in re-establishing track and field at Roanoke College as a player and a coach in the late 40's and early 50's.
