HARRISONBURG - The Roanoke men's and women's cross country team competed in the Eastern Mennonite University Invitational on Friday, August 31st. The men's team finished second with 82 points, while the women came in fifth of nine teams.
Senior
Tim Smith led the men, taking the top overall finish for the meet. Smith crossed the line with a time of 27:41.
Harrison Toney took a fifth place finish in the meet with a time of 29:33. Rounding out the top-10 for the Maroons was
Austin Grubb hitting a 30:03 mark. Pat Kohlhaas and
Cody Meadows crossed the finish line together taking 35th (32:41) and 36th (32:45), respectively.
On the women's side, 2011 ODAC Rookie of the Year, Grace England took a third place finish with a time of 25:12. Leah Schimmoeller's time of 27:53 earned a 23rd place finish. Melissa Bauerle (29:05), Anna Noble (29:34) and Hannah Cline (29:36) each finished 32nd, 37th and 39th, respectively.
The Maroons return to action on September 8th as they travel to Lexington, VA for the General Invitational. The meet is scheduled for a 10:00 AM start.
