Roanoke has four earn accolades as team finishes third at ODAC Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Roanoke College men's cross country teams had four of their five scoring runners finish in All-ODAC position as the squad took third overall at the ODAC Championships.

Notes and Notables 

  • Roanoke finished with 72 team points, putting them 40 behind second place Lynchburg but over 50 points clear of fourth place Shenandoah 

  • New this season, the top 21 are recognized as All-ODAC performers whereas previously it was the top 14. Places 1-7 are the first team, 8-14 are the second team, and 15-21 are the third team. 

  • Nathaniel Orban picked up First Team All-ODAC honors after finishing in sixth with a time of 25:53.3. 

  • Orban is the highest finisher for the Maroons since Chamberlain Zulauf placed sixth in 2021. 

  • Orban was also selected as the Men's Cross Country ODAC Rookie of the Meet after being the top freshman finisher on the day. He is the first Freshman/Rookie of the Year recipient since Ian Robinson in 2007 and is the third Maroon on the men's sidde to recieve the award.

  • Shane Stevens made his way on to the second team with his 13th place finish at 26:32.3. 

  • Jackson Coombes and Ian Fellows topped off the All-ODAC performers as they found themselves on the third team after placing 13th and 19th respectively. Coombes ran a 26:40.0 while Fellows finished at 26:48.2. 

  • Parker Blosser rounded out the scoring five with his 27th place finish at 27:07.2. 

  • Gabe Ramirez was not far behind Blosser as he took 30th with a time of 27:28.0 to put six RC runners in the top 30. 

  • It is the first time since 2018 that RC finished with under 100 points as their team score. The squad also recorded the lowest team score in program history since 2004. Back then there were only 7 teams competing for the title.

Roanoke continues their post-season in two weeks (Nov. 15) when they host the NCAA South Regionals at Green Hill Park.
