Cross country releases 2026 schedule

SALEM, Va. - Roanoke College's Director of Cross Country and Track & Field, Derek Workman, announced the 2026 schedule for the men's and women's programs on Wednesday.

"I'm really excited about this upcoming fall; it should be a historic season for the Roanoke Cross Country programs," said Coach Workman. "There is some excitement around this team, and the expectations are high."

RC opens their season with the SU Twilight Open on Sep. 11 which gives the Maroons a chance to preview this year's ODAC Championship course. They then head to Lynchburg's South Region Preview the following week (Sep. 19) for a look at the NCAA South Regionals course. The men's team will then head to the Paul Short Run on Oct. 2 before both teams travel to Queens for the Royals Cross Country Challenge (Oct. 9). Roanoke wraps up the regular season on Oct. 17 as they host the Roanoke South Region Showdown and send their top men to the Augustana Interregional Invite.

"Schedule wise, we are doing things a little differently this year than we have in the past because our men's team has hopes of being a national qualifying team for the first time since the 1980s.  We mixed up the schedule a little bit compared to years past, and it should be a very competitive schedule for us."

The postseason starts on Oct. 31 with a trip to Shenandoah for the ODAC Championships. The squads will then go to Lynchburg two weeks later for the NCAA South Regionals. Should the Maroons qualify, they will make their way to Minnesota for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 21.
