Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SALEM --- Roanoke defeated both Rochester and Grace College in the first day of the 2012 Roanoke Valley Softball Bash hosted by Ferrum College Friday.  The Maroons improve to 7-3 on the season.

In both games the Maroons won by the run rule.  They defeated Rochester, 10-1 in six innings and Grace, 17-0 after five innings.

Against Grace, the Maroons put up a season-best 13 runs in the first inning en route to their seventh win of the season.  Leona Rainey paced Roanoke with two hits, (including a home run) two runs and a career-best six RBI.

Felice Lowery went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI.  Caitlin Manuel went 2-for-3 with two runs, three RBI and a stolen base.  Rhea Schleicher went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

The women will take on both SUNY-Old Westbury and Huntingdon tomorrow in day two of the regular season invitational.  Game times are at 11 and 3 p.m., respectively.
