BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Roanoke College women's cross-country squad placed fourth at the Eagle Cross Country Challenge on Friday.

Notes and Notables 

• Freshman Maya Herndon led the way for the Maroons, placing ninth with a time of 15:59.8 on the 4k course. She was one of just the four runners in the top-15 that did not compete for Washington & Lee. 

• Junior Allie Gallaher placed 23rd but shaved over a minute off the time she ran at this course last season with a 16:41.1 this year. 

• Alaina DeFelice, Lauren Murray, and Ella Speece rounded out the scoring for Roanoke. DeFelice finished 41st at 17:27.0, Murray placed 43rd with a 17:30.1, and Speece finished 47th at 17:47.0. 

• Last season at this meet, the women averaged a time of 17:45 but this year they dropped that average to 17:05. 

• Washington & Lee won the meet with 20 points as all of their scorers were in the top six. Bridgewater's Olivia Morra was the overall winner of the race with a time of 15:21.8.

"I'm really pleased with how our women performed today. They executed the race plan and packed up well together. We have a lot more depth than we did last year, so that should make us that much better as we head into championship season. Maya Herndon and Allie Gallaher were awesome for us today, no surprise. That's what we've been seeing all preseason!"
