The Lead: The Maroons shutout the Cougars of Misericordia in their first round of the regional tournament. Roanoke jumped out on top in the bottom of the first inning by scoring three runs to take the lead.

Highlights:

• Meri Bostic led off the top of the first with a single to center field. Morgan Clark followed with a double down the right field line to put runners on second and third. Bostic would score on a throwing error made by the right fielder. With runners in scoring position Molly Epperson hit a line drive single into center field which scored a run. Adriana Rivera would score off a fielder's choice hit from Kate Houle.
• Makayla Austin, Bostic, and Epperson went 2 for 3.

Up next: Roanoke will play their second round of the Regional Tournament against host Christopher Newport on Friday 5/18 at 2:30 p.m. The winner will advance to the regional final on Saturday with the loser to take on the 12 p.m. elimination game winner at 5 p.m.
