ODAC Tournament Game 1
Score: No. 5 Emory & Henry 6 | No. 4 Roanoke 5

The Lead: No. 4 Roanoke fell 6-5 to No. 5 Emory & Henry in its opening game of the ODAC tournament Friday afternoon.

How it Happened:

  • Roanoke jumped out to an early 4-0 lead at the end of the first inning as Mattie Morris broke open the scoring with a two-out RBI single. Kate Priester kept the inning going with a two-RBI double to left center followed by a single from Kendall Penn to score Priester and close the four-run inning.
  • Taylor Carter hit a double with one out in the bottom of the second before Anna Clowdis drove her in with a single to extend the gap to 5-0.
  • Emory & Henry got on the board in the fifth with an RBI single from Erin Anderson to make it 5-1.
  • Caley Hodge hit a leadoff home run in the top of the sixth to spark a five-run inning for the Wasps that was pieced together by four hits and one Maroon error. Hodge drove in what proved to be the game-winning run off a single to right field to close the inning with a 6-5 lead.
  • Katie Smith went 2-for-4 while Morris was 2-for-3 for the Maroons while Hodge and Madison McClanahan were both 2-for-4 for E&H.
  • Cameron Derr earned the win tossing the final five innings allowing two runs while striking out eight. 

ODAC Tournament Game 2

Score: No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan 8 | No. 5 Roanoke 0 (6 innings)
Records: Virginia Wesleyan 40-2 | Roanoke 24-18
Location: Salem, Va. | Moyer Complex

The Lead: Virginia Wesleyan defeated Roanoke 8-0 as the Maroons closed out their season on Friday evening.

How it Happened:

  • Virginia Wesleyan combined for five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to secure the win.
  • Jessica Lindsay hit two home runs and Maria Weddle hit one of her own as Lindsay recorded a game-high three RBI.
  • Hanna Hull earned the win allowing one hit in the first five innings while striking out five.
  • Katie Smith was 1-for-2 as the Maroons were held to one hit during the contest.
