FOREST, Va. - Freshman Shane Stevens of the Roanoke College men's cross country team was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Runner of the Week as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Stevens becomes the first Maroon since 2022 and the first men's athlete since 2021 to earn a weekly award in cross country. He also is the first weekly cross country honoree that Director of Cross Country/Track & field, Derek Workman, has had.
The Virginia native earns the accolade after taking first overall at the Eagle Cross Country Challenge with a time of 19:16.0 and helping Roanoke secure back-to-back team victories at the meet.
Stevens and the cross country squads return to action next week (Sep. 12) when they make the trip to Charlotte, N.C. to take on the Queen City Invite hosted by Queens University.
