SALEM, Va. - Roanoke's Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, Derek Workman, announced the Maroons' cross country slate on Friday.
"We have a very exciting, and challenging schedule for the upcoming 2025 fall cross country season!" said Coach Workman. "This should be a pretty special cross country season for Roanoke College, and one for the record books."
RC will compete in five meets before they take on the postseason consisting of the ODAC Championships, the NCAA South Regionals, and the NCAA Championships.
Roanoke kicks off their fall at Bridgewater on Aug. 29. After two weeks off, they travel to Queens (Sep. 12) and USC Upstate (Sep. 20) for back-to-back competition weekends. The squads round out the road portion of the campaign with a trip to Lehigh on Oct. 3. The Maroons are then set to host the Roanoke XC Invitational 2025 South Region Showdown on Oct. 18 as their final regular season meet.
"We have two overnight trips planned for the regular season, one to race at Pre-Nationals down in SC, and the second out to Bethlehem, Pa. to race at the Paul Short Invite," stated Coach Workman. "Both of those meets will provide us with tons of championship level competition and experience as we start gearing up for the post season! We are extremely excited to announce that we are hosting the 2025 NCAA South Region Championship for the first time in program history on Nov. 15."
In terms of postseason competition, the ODAC Cross Country Championships are slated for Nov. 1 at Bridgewater. Roanoke will then host the aforementioned NCAA South Regional on Nov. 15. Should any Maroons advance through the regional, they will go on to compete at the NCAA Championships in Spartanburg, S.C. on Nov. 22.
