The Lead: Matt Garis and
Jim Sarsfield garnered all-conference honors with second-place showings on the first day of the conference outdoor meet hosted by Eastern Mennonite.
Highlights:
- Garis clocked a personal-record time of 31:41.57 to land as the runner-up in the 10,000m.
- Sarsfield also secured an All-ODAC placement with a second-place finish in the hammer throw, logging a toss of 48.34m.
- Cody Roupe tied for fourth place in the high jump, recording a leap of 1.90m.
- Josh Woodley scored for the Maroons in the 3,000m steeplechase, clocking in at 10:24.21 to finish seventh overall.
- Amari Carter placed second in the 100m prelims with a mark of 10.45 seconds. Drew Bitzer's personal-record time of 10.67 seconds landed him in sixth as both athletes qualified for the finals on Saturday.
- A pair of Maroons also advanced to the finals of the 400m. Lorenzo Camobreco finished third in the prelims at 49.41 seconds, while Bryson Hill came in seventh at 49.84.
- Daniel Graham and Davis Neel moved on to the finals in the 110m hurdles. Graham placed fifth in the prelims at 15.51 seconds, and Neel notched a seventh-place showing at 15.81.
- Roanoke's 22.5 team points put the squad in fourth place, with a majority of the scoring events set for Saturday. Lynchburg currently leads the meet with 83.5 points.
