The Lead: Matt Garis snapped the program mark in the 3,000m to take first place, and the Roanoke men's track & field team posted six other Top 5 finishes to kick off the outdoor season in Lexington.
Meet Highlights:
- Garis clocked in at 8:50.80 in the 3,000m, setting a new Roanoke record and securing first place overall. Four other Maroons joined him in the Top 10: Elias Ammon placed fifth in 9:08.75, followed by Seth Perry (9:19.77) in sixth, Josh Woodley (9:39.25) in eighth and Kellen Bishop (9:57.26) in ninth.
- Lorenzo Camobreco's time of 49.51 seconds was good for fourth place in the 400m. Brandon Heffinger finished eighth with a personal-best mark of 50.94.
- In the 3,000m steeplechase, Gabe Ramirez finished fourth in 10:44.46.
- Jim Sarsfield landed in fifth place in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.60m.
- Trey Tomlinson came in fifth in the triple jump at 12.83m.
- Cody Roupe tied for fifth place in the high jump with a height of 1.84m.
- In the 400m hurdles, Dylan Knick placed sixth in 59.40 seconds, while George Davis came in ninth in 1:01.46.
- Daniel Graham recorded a time of 16.05 seconds to finish sixth in the 110m hurdles. Davis Neel landed in 10th place in 16.62.
- Ammon came in seventh in the 1,500m, notching a time of 4:03.77. Garis also logged a PR in that event, finishing 11th in 4:05.51.
- Sarsfield placed eighth in the shot put at 12.20m.
- Dominic McCombs tied for eighth position in the pole vault with a mark of 3.86m.
- In the javelin, Aidan Vigus came in ninth with a personal-best throw of 39.71m.
- Camobreco also placed 10th in the 100m, registering a time of 11.43 seconds.
