SALEM, Va. – The Roanoke College men's basketball team recently announced the addition of Perry Ayers to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Ayers has served as the graduate assistant coach at Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) for the last two seasons, and also was the Director of Basketball Operations and Head Coach for the JV team. He also was the head boys' basketball coach for the seventh and eighth grade teams the last four years at Bowling Green Junior High School.
"We are excited to add Perry Ayers to our coaching staff," said head coach
Clay Nunley. "Coach Ayers is a talented and energetic coach who will be a great fit in our program and assist our student-athletes in reaching their full potential on and off the court. He has played for and worked for some outstanding coaches and has quickly established himself as someone with a bright coaching future. We look forward to having him with us at Roanoke College!"
Ayers, a 1,000-point scorer at Centre College (Ky.) earned all-conference first-team honors twice and second-team accolades twice. He was named the Southern Athletic Association Tournament MVP in 2020, leading the Colonels to the championship.
"I am extremely excited to get the opportunity to be a part of such a special program like Roanoke College," said Ayers. "I want to express my gratitude to Coach Nunley for allowing me to work closely with the student athletes and help them reach their full potential. I'm ready to get started and help add some more banners to the Cregger Center!"
