The Lead: Kenny Mackovic threw seven shutout innings to get the Maroons back on track with a 6-1 win against Southern Virginia.
How it Happened: - Craig Kiley singled to score Dan Brodeur to give the Maroons the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
- In the third inning Anthony Teixeira scored off of a double to deep left field by Kiley to add another run to the Roanoke lead.
- The Maroons scored two runs in the fourth inning after Eli Sumpter hit a triple that drove in Lucas Nowlin and Will Black.
- RC was able to push across two more runs in its half of the sixth inning off of a two-run single by Brodeur that drove in Teixeira and Sumpter.
- Mackovic picked up the first win of his collegiate career after throwing seven shutout innings and scattering four hits while striking out two.
- Offensively, Kiley went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI and Sumpter was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI as well. Dan Brodeur also had two RBI and was 1-for-3 at the plate with a walk and one run scored.
