Roanoke College

2017:   In his third year with the team Sumpter started in three games for the maroons. He tallied nine kills, and pitched in nineteen innings. In a win versus Dean (3/8) he pitched in 5.0 innings, striking out four opponents. Continuing on the mound in a game versus Emory and Henry (3/28) he pitched in a total of 9.0 innings while striking out 4 opponents. In a close game against a conference opponent Virginia Wesleyan (4/8) he was on the mound during 4.0 innings with an ERA of 2.25.

2016: Started in 28 out of 28 games played for the Maroons during his sophomore year… hit .330 on the season with 31 hits…drove in 14 runs while scoring 19… on the mound he collected five saves which tied the school single-season record… had an ERA of 1.93… went 2-for-3 with one double and scored one run in a win over Behrend (3/27) while during the same game he pitched one inning and had one strikeout.

2015: Saw action on the mound in two games during his freshman campaign striking out three batters in four innings...had two strikeouts against Virginia Wesleyan (4/11).... earned Spring 2015 Academic Honor Roll.

High School: Two-sport athlete at Western Albemarle... earned All-Jefferson District honors as a senior earned the Coaches Award in basketball... three-time Second-Team All-Jefferson District second baseman in baseball... led the Warriors to a program-best 20-2 record as senior captain in baseball, including an 11-1 mark in district play... won Conference 29 championship and advanced to regional quarterfinals... earned "Warrior" Award last two years... selected to All-Region team in 2014... led them to a 15-5 record as a junior... earned Most Improved Award as a sophomore, leading the team to 10 wins, a four-win turnaround... had a career .344 batting average with 65 hits, 38 runs, 37 RBI and drew 22 walks.

Personal: Son of Lee and Kristal Sumpter...Engineering Major. Also plays on the Men's Basketball Team at Roanoke College.
