Junior Jaleesa Osborne led Roanoke with 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting to go with six steals, three rebounds and two assists. Fellow third year player, Caitlyn Long, chipped in 10 points along with six boards. Transfer Rebecca Bays added nine markers on 4-of-7 from the field while senior Marcy Conner tallied seven points and a team-high nine rebounds.

 

Brittany Cornelius led Meredith with 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. Hunter Johnson added eight points and three boards. 

 

Osborne, Long, and sophomore Jordan Gholson combined for 18 points in the first half to help the Maroons to a 16-point lead by the intermission. Bays dropped in six of her tallies while Gholson and Conner combined for 11 boards. The Roanoke defense kept Meredith off-balance to the tone of a 17.4-percent showing from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

 

Roanoke's pressure mirrored the first half as it held the Avenging Angels to another 16-point effort in the second frame. Nine of the Maroons 17 steals came in the second half, forcing Meredith into 10 of its 26 turnovers. 

 

The Maroons return to the hardwood on Saturday, November 22, as they face SUNY Purchase in the Guilford Tip-Off Tournament. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
