LEXINGTON, Va. - The Roanoke College women's basketball team battled it out with the undefeated Washington & Lee Generals but were ultimately overcome in the fourth quarter of the ODAC Quarterfinals.

How It Happened 

• The teams went punch fo rpunch in the first quarter, matching each other for most of the period. W&L found a slight dge with two minutes to go to take a 16-14 lead into the second. 

• The Maroons scored right away in the second to even it up. Roanoke then got hot from beyond the arc, draining four threes in the quarter, and put in the work defensively to take a 33-31 advantage into the break. 

• The Generals tried to take charge in the third, building a lead of seven at one point, but RC had other plans. In the final minute, Roanoke tallied five unanswered points to draw the game to within two at 46-44. 

• Washington & Lee came out firing in the fourth to give themselves a double-digit advantage that the Maroons just couldn't find an answer for. 

Notes and Notables 

• Ashley Fowler topped the squad in scoring with 16 points as she went 4-9 from three.  

• Paige Breuer was right behind with 15 points after going 3-5 from beyond the arc. 

• Mariah Cain led in rebounds with six defensive boards. Alicea Farmer was next up in the category with five rebounds. 

• Nadia Snesarev paced RC in assists and steals with four and two. 

• Breuer, Cain, and Abigail Rice also added a pair of assists each.
