Roanoke Men Compete at Liberty Open

LYNCHBURG, Va. – T.K. Toney won the high jump, and the Maroons produced several other strong finishes in a loaded field at Liberty.

Notes and Notables
  • Toney won his flight of the high jump with a mark of 2.00m. That height ranks second in Roanoke history, and Toney is currently tied for 18th in NCAA Division III. Cody Roupe logged a jump of 1.85m to finish in fifth place.
  • DeShawn Austin came in ninth in the long jump, landing at 6.68m. His mark ranks fourth in program annals, and he now sits in eighth place in the South Region. Amir Spencer placed 23rd at 6.34m.
  • Max Cardwell led all D3 runners and finished 14th overall in the 400m, and his time of 49.56 seconds currently ranks sixth in the region and third in program history. Elias Ammon finished in the 36th spot at 51.24 seconds, which puts him ninth all-time at Roanoke.
  • Kyle Stephens (12.99m) and Aidan Vigus (12.84m) were the top two Division III finishers in the main circle flight of the shot put, placing 16th and 17th overall. Jayven Bea came in 27th at 11.28m.
  • Roanoke's two 4x400 relay teams ran well. The "A" quartet of Ammon, Nathaniel Orban, Ian Fellows and Jackson Coombes placed 16th in 3:32.24, while the "B" squad of Jonah Hamman, Beau Brebner, Aaron Massey and Michael Foley finished 19th with a time of 3:38.90.
  • Vigus recorded a toss of 12.40m to place 23rd in the weight throw. Bea finished 34th at 11.18m.
  • Toney also set a personal record in the triple jump, landing in 26th place at 12.72m. That mark ranks ninth all-time for the Maroons.
  • Lorenzo Camobreco placed 34th overall in the 200m with a time of 22.46 seconds, which ranked third among D3 runners. It's the sixth-fastest time in the Roanoke record book.
  • Mitchell Taylor narrowly missed out on a spot in the finals of the 60m hurdles, placing ninth overall in the prelims at 8.39 seconds.
  • In the low pit sector of the pole vault, Dominic McCombs placed fourth and Daniel Graham finished tied for sixth. Both athletes came in at 4.00m, and Graham now ranks sixth in school history.
  • Orban placed sixth overall in his flight of the 800m, registering a personal-best time of 1:56.72 that ranks fourth in Maroons' history and ninth in the region this winter. Fellows came in 19th at 1:58.96, followed by Massey in 26th at 2:00.61.
  • Sam Brasler notched an eighth-place finish in his branch of the 3,000m with a time of 8:56.38, good for ninth all-time in the school record book, while Gabe Ramirez landed in the 12th spot at 9:07.27. Both marks represented personal records.
