The Lead: The 2025 golf season opened with a trip to Savannah to compete at the 2025 Port City Classic, hosted by Berry College. The Maroons would finish the event in 13^th after the two-day, 54-hole event that was contested over 6,739 yards at the Savannah Country Club.   
 
How it Happened:
 
Round One:

• Sophomore Sean Hickey carded a five over par 76 to lead Roanoke. Freshman Nick Crawford, playing in his first collegiate tournament, was next at 79 while Palmer Cuny opened with a 79.
• Sam Fansler rounded out the scoring with an 84.

 Round Two:

• Hickey continued to lead the way with a three over, 74.
• Cuny and Crawford each shot 77 with Fansler improving four shots with an 80.

 Round Three:

• Cuny birdied his final hole to post a tournament best 73, moving up 19 spots to finish 27^th. Hickey posted his second 76 on his way to a 13^th place finish in the field of 94 golfers.
• Fansler put up an 83 with Crawford shooting an 84.

 
 Up Next: The Maroons will make the trip to Pinehurst to compete in the Hampden-Sydney Invitational at Whispering Pines on March 9-10.
