The Lead: Oglethorpe hosted the 2025 Jekyll Island Collegiate, the biggest and best NCAA DIII tournament in the country, at the Pine Lakes and Indian Mound golf courses at the Jekyll Island Golf Club. The 30-team field featured 15 of the top 20 teams in the nation and all but one team ranked in the top 90. The Maroons were tied for 25^th after an opening round 305. RC improved by three strokes but fell to 27^th heading into the final round. On day three, Roanoke posted a 296 to move up three spots and finish the event in 24^th and finishing ahead of five teams that were ahead in the most recent National Rankings.  
 
How it Happened:
 
Round One:

• Freshman Andrew Garcia paced Roanoke with an opening round, 1-over par, 73.
• Sophomore Sean Hickey and senior Palmer Cuny each recorded 4-over 76's while Sean Furlong rounded out the scoring with an 80.

 
Round Two:

• Furlong rose to the top of the RC quartet with 73 and Hickey improved two strokes with a 74.
• Garcia was next at 5-over 77 while sophomore Ryne Bond posted a 78 allowing the Maroons to improve by three strokes on the day.

 
Round Three:

• Roanoke recorded their best round of the spring with an 8-over par 296 and moved up three spots into 24^th.
• Hickey and Cuny each added 73's (1-over) their best rounds of the weekend.
• Garcia and Furlong capped off strong showings with a pair of 75's.
• Hickey (56), Garcia (72), and Furlong (95) made it three Maroons in the top 100.

 
Up Next: In two weeks, Roanoke will travel to North Carolina and the USMC base at Camp Lejeune to compete at the 52^nd Annual Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate golf tournament, April 4-6.
