The Lead: Rebecca Carr won the 60m hurdles, and the Roanoke women's track & field team collected 10 top-five finishes at the Maroons' own Joe LaRocco Invitational.
Highlights:
- Carr took first in the 60m hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.96 seconds, moving up to 23rd in Division III and missing the school record by just one-hundredth of a second. Olivia Viers placed fourth at 9.29, followed by Cammi Winston in fifth (9.54) and McKenna Riolo in seventh (9.66). Riolo also set a PR with a mark of 9.57 seconds in the prelims.
- Nalonda Henderson finished as the runner-up in the 60m at 7.98 seconds. Lindsey Hobin placed third with a season-best time of 8.06 seconds, while Eleanor Hinckley came in sixth at 8.15. Hinckley notched a season-best run of 8.04 seconds in the prelims.
- Five Maroons placed in order in the top seven of the 400m. Hobin's PR time of 1:00.85 was good for third place; she was followed by Maryrose Molina-Shuman (1:01.29) in fourth, Mae Kaufman (1:01.43) in fifth, Nadira Cantey (1:01.65) in sixth and Ophelia Ladner (1:02.29) in seventh. Cantey and Ladner's times represented new personal records, as did Riolo's 16th-place run at 1:05.77.
- Hinckley came in fourth in the 200m with a mark of 26.77 seconds. Henderson placed seventh at 27.11, and Riolo notched another personal-best time of 27.88 seconds to finish 12th.
- Viers landed in fifth place in the long jump with a distance of 5.10m.
- Tasha Miller finished sixth in the pole vault at 2.97m.
- Carr produced a seventh-place performance in the high jump with a height of 1.43m.
- In the 5,000m, Sarah Kochanski came in seventh in 20:55.59. Alaina DeFelice (22:01.72) finished 11th overall, followed by Madeleine Rhyne (22:29.94) in 13th and Lauren Murray (23:38.83) in 14th.
- In the shot put, Sarah Fuchs led the way with a ninth-place mark of 10.95m, while Abby McGlothlin came in 12th with a season-best distance of 10.61m.
- Winston logged a mark of 10.16m to place 11th in the triple jump.
- A trio of Roanoke runners finished in consecutive order in the 800m. Savannah Reid placed 15th in 2:31.39, while Evie Magee (2:31.74) and Allie Gallaher (2:32.05) notched personal-best times to come in 16th and 17th.
- Fuchs placed 12th in the weight throw with a toss of 13.33m. McGlothlin (11.70m) landed in 20th position at 11.70m.
- At their final home event of the regular season, the Maroons also recognized their senior class (pictured above).
Up Next: Roanoke will send athletes to compete at the Virginia Tech Challenge and the Wittenberg Invitational next weekend.
