ODAC Sweep Of Eagles

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Basics
Game 1
Score: Roanoke 7 | Bridgewater 4
Records: Maroons 16-7 / 9-3 ODAC | Eagles  6-7 / 5-6 ODAC
Location: Bridgewater, Va.

The Lead: Roanoke College left Salem a little earlier than scheduled to travel to Bridgewater for a double header on Saturday morning. The games were moved up to try to beat the forecasted rain and storms that were scheduled to hit the Shenandoah Valley later in the afternoon. The Eagles were up 3-2 before the Maroons scored five unanswered runs on their way to winning the opener 7-4. In game two, a five-run eighth inning would be the difference as Roanoke swept Bridgewater with a 9-4 win.

How it Happened:

  • Carter Plunkett singled home Will Smith in the top of the first to take an early lead.
  • After the Eagles tied it up in the bottom half, Luke Estep scored an unearned run off a ball put in play by Gavin Kandrick.
  • Trailing by one, Tyler De Meo singled to center to score Cale Agee and put runners on the corners. Roanoke would take the lead thanks to a double steal by De Meo, second base, and Kandrick swiping home.
  • Mason Staz added a run and then plated De Meo with a double down the right field line.
  • Evan Parks earned his second win of the season with a five inning, five hit, three run outing. Will Turner would go three scoreless innings with Josh Dawson recording the final three outs.
