SALEM - Cameron Holshouser pitched a complete game shutout against Guilford College in Roanoke's 6-0 ODAC victory on Wednesday evening. The Maroons now have a record of 14-12, 9-8 in the ODAC, while the Quakers are 11-21, 7-13 in ODAC play.
Roanoke's win comes at an important time for the Maroons, with three regular season ODAC games remaining. The Maroons get off of a five game schneid with their 6-0 victory over Guilford College. The Maroons currently sit in fifth in the ODAC, with the top six teams advancing to the 2015 ODAC Baseball Tournament which begins on April 23
rd.
Will Black led off the inning with a strikeout, but took first on a passed ball dropped third strike. With two outs, Black stole second base.
Will Decker hit a double to deep left field, scoring Black from second.
Cal Hodgert followed with a double to left of his own, plating Decker and giving the Maroons a 2-0 lead after one. In the second,
Will Black reached first on an error, allowing
Devin Cassity to score from third, increasing the Roanoke lead to three runs.
After Kiley reached on an error and
Will Decker hit a double to right field,
Cal Hodgert hit a pop up to the outfield, allowing
Craig Kiley to score the fourth run of the game. The Maroons kept the scoring going in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, all three runners advanced a base on a passed ball, which brought home
Lucas Nowlin for a Roanoke 5-0 lead.
Roanoke would score one more run in the bottom of the eighth as Kiley hit an RBI single to left field, scoring
Will Black, putting the Maroons ahead 6-0.

Will Decker led the Maroons with two hits each, while
Brian Kluge,
Craig Kiley,
Cal Hodgert and
Devin Cassity had one apiece. Hodgert led the team in RBIs with two, while
Will Black had three stolen bases in the contest.
The Quakers had just three hits on the night, with one each from Josh Shepherd, AJ Girting and Michael Pinkston. Darin Salter (3-2) was tabbed with the loss, giving up five runs off of five hits, while striking out five.
Roanoke travels to face Lynchburg College on Thursday, April 16th at 3:00 PM. The Maroons will be back in action at home on Saturday, April 18
th as they play host to Bridgewater College at 12:00 PM to start a doubleheader. Please note the contest will be played at Kiwanis Field instead of Lewis-Gale Field.
