Roanoke wins, 14-10 over Mary Washington in Women's Lacrosse Action

ST. CROIX, Virgin Islands --- Roanoke defeated Mary Washington, 14-10 in women's lacrosse action in the final game of its spring break trip this morning. The Maroons improved to 3-1 on the season while the Eagles dropped to 3-2.
Gina Valles led the Maroons with four goals and two assists in the win to become the 25th member at Roanoke to eclipse 100 career points. She did it in just over a year as she had 79 points last season.
The Maroons are off to their best start since 2007 (4-1) as Valles (4g, 2a)and Brooks Laufman (2g, 4a) led the Maroons again with a combined six goals and assists for 12 points. Paige Mason finished with a season-high four goals and one assist while Carolyn Miller had a goal and three assists. Meegan Rourke chipped in two goals and two assists.
The Eagles, who are now 12-11 against the Maroons, were led by Ellen Bikowski with three goals and one assist while Katie Wallis finished with two goals and an assist.
Katyln Scarlett had 10 saves in her third win of the season while Danni Guigli took the loss with five saves.
The women will travel to St. Mary's this Wednesday, March 10 in non-conference action. The Maroons are 2-5 all-time against the Seahawks. They have played every year but one since 2000,which was last season. The women won, 7-6 in last meeting in 2007, breaking a five-game losing streak. Roanoke won the first meeting, 15-9 in 2000. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
