NORTHBOROGH, Mass. - Juniors Maddie McDonald, Zoe Blair, and Jordan Wheeler were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Chesapeake Region teams which were released on Friday afternoon.
McDonald earned first team laurels while Blair and Wheeler were both selected to the second team. It is the sixth consecutive year the RC has put Maroons on both All-Region teams. All three Maroons take home the honor after picking up First Team All-ODAC accolades just a week and a half ago.
This is the second All-Region award of McDonald's career after she attained second team honors last season. McDonald adds the accolade to her cabinet after dominating in the attack for Roanoke all season. The Massachusetts product only had one game this season with less than three points. She also had 10 games with at least five goals, which included the last five games of the campaign. McDonald was also a force on the draw control, picking up a team leading 92 draw controls which put her fifth in the ODAC.
Blair earns the first All-Region recognition of her career after being a driver of the RC offense this season. She too was consistent for the Maroons all season, scoring in every game and recording at least three points in 14 games. Blair's final stat line for the year included 48 goals and 16 assists for 64 points, 20 ground balls, and 12 caused turnovers.
Wheeler stepped up for the Maroons on the draw last season and carried that momentum into this year while taking her game a step further on the defensive side too. The USA Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American led Roanoke in both ground balls and caused turnovers with 43 and 36 respectively. Wheeler was also second on the squad in draw controls with 43.
