NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Junior Maddie McDonald added to her list of postseason honors as she was named Second Team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) on Friday morning.Â
McDonald becomes the first player to earn second team honors since Lilly Blair did so in 2022. The selection also makes McDonald the fourth Maroon since 2000 to take home second team or higher All-American laurels from the IWLCA.Â
The attacker adds the accolade to an already impressive collection of awards which includes USA Lacrosse Second Team All-American, IWLCA First Team All-Chesapeake Region, ODAC Offensive Player of the Year, ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and First Team All-ODAC. Â
In 19 starts this year, McDonald tallied single-season highs for herself in every major stat category. She posted a program record breaking 89 goals and added 18 assists for 107 points while racking up 92 draw controls, 30 ground balls, and 16 caused turnovers. McDonald also finished the season third in goals and top-15 in points across Division III while leading the ODAC in both categories and ranking fifth in draw controls.Â
