Roanoke tops Lynchburg, 12-5 in ODAC-Opener

LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The 25th-ranked Roanoke College women's lacrosse team shrugged off an early 2-0 deficit to post a 12-5 victory Tuesday evening. In the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for both teams, the Maroons improved to 4-3, 1-0 on the season while the Hornets dropped to 3-2, 0-1 in the ODAC.
Roanoke, who is now 27-21-1 all-time against Lynchburg, has won the last four meetings. The Maroons have won the last three by a combined score of 37-15. The women held the advantage in shots (30-21), groundballs (21-15) and were successful in 14-of-18 clear attempts.
The Hornets controlled the tempo early - trying to slow down the potent Maroon offense - and succeeded in the early going. Sophomore midfielder Morgan Logue scored twice in the first nine minutes of play, but the Maroons patiently waited for their opportunities and capitalized with nine-straight scores.
