The baseball team dropped two games to Averett University, 5-1 and 5-2 this afternoon at Salem Memorial Stadium. The losses dropped the Maroons to 6-11 on the season while the Cougars improved to 12-14.
Mark Eubank (0-2) was credited with the loss but struck out six batters in a season-high seven innings. After a three-run first inning, Eubank calmed down to pitch solid baseball, allowing only one walk the rest of the way in his first complete game of the season.
The men will return to conference action as they travel to Emory & Henry for a 2 p.m. contest. The Maroons are 7-4 all-time vs. the Wasps, winning the last seven in a row.
