BRIDGEWATER, VA--Senior
Kally Perkins recorded six goals and two assists in the Roanoke College women's lacrosse 13-3 win at Bridgewater College on Wednesday afternoon. The 10-goal win gave the Maroons an 8-6 overall record and a 4-3 record in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Eagles fell to 4-10, 1-7 in the ODAC.
The Maroons dictated the pace of the game in the first half, outshooting the Eagles 17-2 on the way to an 8-0 halftime lead. Perkins scored the first of her six goals just 46 seconds into the game on a
Kayla Moore assist. Just over a minute later Perkins had the first of her two assists, helping out on an
Amanda Hutchins score, the first of her two. The pair gave the Maroons a 4-0 lead, with Perkins scoring unassisted and then assisting on Hutchins' second score. Freshman
Ella Wade gave the visitors a 5-0 lead before Perkins sandwiched two goals around a
Cantey Bailey score.
After Wade scored on a
Rachel Hutchinson goal to get the second half scoring going, the Eagles scored two straight goals. With the Maroons ahead 10-2 midway through the second, Roanoke defender and senior captain
Coleen Harvey broke into the scoring column for the first time this season, giving RC an 11-2 lead with 8:36 to play. Freshman
Amanda Barker would later score Roanoke's final goal of the game.
Overall the Maroons held a 29-9 edge in the shots column and an 11-7 advantage in draw controls. Freshman goalie
Katlyn Scarlett stopped five shots, four in the second half.
The Maroons are back in action on Friday in another ODAC road game, this time at Virginia Wesleyan College. That game begins at 7:00pm in Virginia Beach, VA.
