ASHLAND, VA--The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team had its 2005 season come to an end on Wednesday afternoon in Ashland, VA following a loss to the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets, 10-5, in the quarterfinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament. The Maroons end their season with a 5-11 overall record, while Randolph-Macon advances to the ODAC semifinals with a 9-5 overall mark.
Tied at three at the half, the Maroons were outscored 7-2 over the final 30 minutes of play. After Randolph-Macon Liz Lombardo scored four minutes into the second half, Roanoke responded just 33 seconds later on a
Rachel Hutchinson goal to even things up at four. The Yellow Jackets, however, scored the next five goals over a span of 20 minutes to take complete command of the game. The Maroon offense was held off the board after the Hutchinson goal until there was just 5:59 left in the game.
In the first half, the Maroons fell behind 3-1 but scored two goals in the final 37 seconds of the half to make the score 3-3.
Emily Hearn scored the second of her two goals in the first half, that with just 37 seconds left. Just 16 seconds after the Hearn score,
Amanda Hutchins drew the Maroons into a 3-3 tie with her lone goal of the game.
