The Short Story: The Roanoke College men's and women's swim teams opened the 2026-27 season Saturday at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Relays, hosted by Washington & Lee University.

Top finishes (women):
*Roanoke's 3x50 fly tandem of Taylor VanHoy, Lizzy Oldenburg and Elizabeth Vallent took 10^th in 1:33.50.
*Van Hoy and Oldenburg teamed with Claire Ballard to swim the 3x50 back in 1:56.38 and take 13^th.
*Vallent, Delanee Williams, Kathryn Schmidt and Ballard swam a 3:57.27 in the 400 free to finish seventh.  
*In the 50-100-150-200 free Schmidt, Ballard, Vallent and Williams placed fourth in 5:03.68. The same foursome was ninth in the 200 medley in 2:00.87. In the 200 free the team was 10^th in 1:49.06
 
Top finishes (men):
*Cade Needham, Leo Moreno, Ryan Franceys and Jack Gajowski swam a 42.45 in the 100 free.
*Gajowski, Arda Gunes, and Tyler Hill finished the 3x50 fly in 1:11.29 to finish fourth.
*Gadowski, Regan Euker and Jack White touched the wall in 1:16.26 for fifth in the 3x50 back.
*Ryan Franceys, Gunes, Euker and Hill placed second in the 400 free in 3:14.69.
*White, Austin Hartsell and Dylan Curry swam the 3x100 IM in 2:56.56 for eighth.
*The Maroon 50-100-150-200 free team took second, comprised of Euker, Hill, Franceys and Gunes in 4:13.26. The same four took fourth in the 200 free in 1:28.11.
*White, Williams, Moreno and Wyatt Ogle placed 11th in the 200 medley in 1:46.36.

Both Roanoke teams are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the University of Lynchburg.
