Roanoke swimming splits ODAC meet at Lynchburg

The Short Story: The Roanoke College swimming teams split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) meet against the University of Lynchburg Saturday, with the Maroon men defeating the Hornets.

Top finishes (Men):
*The RC 200 medley relay team of Jack Gajowski, Austin Hartsell, Tyler Hill and Regan Euker won the event in 1:37.40.
*Ryan Franceys was second in the 1000 free in 9:58.35 and won the 100 free in 48.60. He was second in the 500 free in 4:50.33.
*Arda Gunes won the 200 free in 1:45.57, the 200 fly in 1:58.98 and the 100 fly in 50.99.
*Gajowski took second in the 100 back in 54.87.
*Hartsell was victorious in the 100 breast in a time of 1:00.73 and in the 200 breast in 2:15.05.
*Wyatt Ogle won the 50 free in the 22.05.
*Jack White swam a 2:00.93 in the 200 back to place second.
*Peyton Meyer touched the wall first in the 200 IM in 2:02.29.
*Hill, Franceys, Euker and Gunes won the 200 free relay in 1:26.67.

Top finishes (women):
*Delanee Williams won the 1000 free in 11:26.43, was third in the 200 free in 2:08.38 and second in the 500 free in 5:41.44.
*Claire Ballard placed third in the 100 breast in 1:12.34.
*Elizabeth Vallent swam a 25.62 in the 50 free to place second and was also second in the 100 free in 56.56. She took fourth in the 100 fly in 1:05.32.
*The 200 free relay team of Vallent, Williams, Taylor VanHoy and Ballard placed fourth in 1:46.85.

Roanoke travels to Fredericksburg next weekend where the men and women will each face off with the University of Mary Washington and Franklin & Marshall College.
