The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team earned its first NCAA tournament win since 2013 Wednesday, beating Marymount University 22-7 in the first round.
 
How It Happened:
Goals came few and far between for the Saints, as Roanoke held Marymount to just three goals in the first three quarters, while the Maroon offense steadily built a sizeable lead throughout the game, including a 10-goal second quarter.


 
Inside The Numbers:

• Julian Kammerman led the Maroons with five goals and recorded two helpers.
• Tyler Schmelzer scored a career-high four goals.
• Clayton Bewick put up a hat trick with three tallies.
• Patrick Cullen scored twice and assisted on three goals.
• Charlie Ryan had a goal and two assists and Dell Vidunas netted two goals.
• Griffin Dabbs had a goal and an assist and Mason Lockwood, Blake Rieger and Brayden Phillips each also scored.
• Nate Lucera, Noah Elazar, and Karson Keating each caused two turnovers.
• Alex Feuer earned the win in the goal, saving six shots in 30 minutes.
• Winston Horshaw went 17-of-24 in the face-off circle for the Saints (9-8) with 12 ground balls. Santino Rossitto scored twice for MU.
