RC Men’s Lacrosse falls in tight contest at Lynchburg in ODAC Semis

The Short Story:
In a tightly contested Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament semifinal matchup, the third-seeded Roanoke College men's lacrosse team fell 18-16 at the University of Lynchburg.
 
The No. 2 seeded Hornets advance to the ODAC Finals Sunday at Washington & Lee University, while the Maroons (13-5) await a possible at large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.  
 
How It Happened:
*Patrick Cullen scored four goals in the first half as the Maroons nearly matched the Hornets in a high-scoring first 30 minutes, trailing 13-12 .
*The Hornets extended their lead to three early in the second half, and the Maroon comeback effort wasn't able to close the gap to less than two by the final buzzer.
 
Inside The Numbers:
  • Cullen led the way for the Maroon offense, netting five goals. He also broke the 100-point barrier for his career and now has 104 in his four seasons.
  • Noah Bell put up a strong four-goal effort.
  • Julian Kammerman scored three times, recorded three helpers and scooped four ground balls.
  • Jack Savoie also recorded a hat trick on the night.
  • Clayton Bewick added to the tally, netting a goal.
  • Ike Dutton caused two turnovers defensively to go with three ground balls and Mason Lockwood scooped four ground balls.  
  • Liam Holman and Will Rubley each recorded a hat trick for the Hornets (16-2).
  • Lynchburg held a narrow 44-43 edge in shots.
