The Short Story:
The Roanoke men's lacrosse team traveled to No. 4 Christopher Newport University (14-2) Wednesday and despite a late rally couldn't pull the upset in the end, falling 17-12.
 
How It Happened:
Roanoke took a one-goal lead into the second quarter before the Captains began a 12-1 scoring run lasting through the third quarter. A strong 6-1 fourth quarter wasn't enough for the Maroons to emerge victorious.
 
Inside The Numbers:

•  Julian Kammerman netted three goals for the Maroons on the day, also notching two assists.
• Jack Savoie also recorded a hat trick, with three goals on the day.
• Tyler Schmelzer scored twice and also recorded an assist.
• Owen Ameo, Anthony Muniz, Clayton Bewick, and Patrick Cullen all scored a goal in the match. Cullen added two assists.
• Ike Dutton and Brandon Solomon each caused two turnovers and Schmelzer and Ike Dutton had five groundballs apiece.
• David Hamilton notched 12 saves in the goal for the Maroons.
• Jamie Smith recorded five goals in the match for the Captains.
