Maroons Produce Strong Showing at VertKlasse Meeting

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Roanoke women's track & field team moved up the ODAC and national leaderboards with several key performances at a cross-divisional meet.

Notes and Notables
  • Ophelia Ladner finished third overall in the top flight of the 400m hurdles, where she was the only non-Division I competitor. Her time of 1:02.00 leads the ODAC and the South Region this spring while ranking third in the NCAA.
  • Lindsey Hobin placed fourth in her branch of the same event in 1:03.97, which ranks second in both the conference and region and 10th in the nation. She moved up to third all-time in the Roanoke record book.
  • Ladner and Hobin joined Nalonda Henderson and Mae Kaufman to card a time of 47.24 seconds in the 4x100 relay, finishing eighth in the event and taking the conference and regional lead. That mark also ranks seventh in Division III this spring, as well as fifth in program history.
  • Hobin's personal-record time of 24.78 seconds landed her in 10th place in her branch of the 200m. She currently ranks second in the ODAC and 14th in the country. Kaufman finished 50th overall with a personal-best mark of 25.84 seconds, which is tied for seventh in the conference.
  • Sarah Fuchs' season-best toss of 42.85m in the hammer throw was good for 12th overall. That distance ranks second in the ODAC and ninth in the region.
  • Claudia Disbrow placed 15th in the javelin with a mark of 34.38m.
  • Ladner placed 15th in the participate flight of the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.87 seconds, which ranks second in the conference, third in the region, and tied for 20th in Division III. McKenna Riolo's season-best time of 17.79 put her in 41st in the event and eighth in the ODAC standings.
  • Henderson's 12.39-second race in her branch of the 100m landed her in 17th place in the event and second in the ODAC during the current campaign.
  • In the participate flight of the 400m, Kaufman finished 38th overall in 1:00.61, which ranks second in the conference. Maryrose Molina-Shuman (1:01.71) placed 43rd, and Nadira Cantey (1:02.75) came in 48th.
