Roanoke SB closes out regular season with split at Shenandoah

The Facts:
Scores: Shenandoah 7, Roanoke 2; Roanoke 10, Shenandoah 8
Location: Winchester, Va., Va. – Rotary Field

The Short story: The Roanoke College softball team closed out the 2026 regular season Sunday by splitting an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader at Shenandoah University.

How it happened (Game 1):
*
The Hornets went ahead 3-0 in the first and added two more in the third to take a 5-1 lead.
*Roanoke scored one in the third as Charlotte Gale singled in Heather McQueeney and the two repeated the scenario in the fifth for another run.

Inside the numbers (Game 1):
*Gale had three hits in the opener and both RBI.
*Camryn Perkins threw four innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one earned run with five strikeouts.  
*Gracie Ravenkamp threw a complete game for the win, allowing no earned runs.

How it happened (Game 2):
*
RC plated one in the first and exploded for sixth in the third. Kiran Kapur and McQueeney each tripled in the third.
*McQueeney blasted a two-run home run in the fifth to make the score 9-2.  
*Shenandoah nearly rallied with two in the fifth and four in the seventh. The Hornets had runners on second and third with two outs, but RC's Camryn Perkins was brought in to pitch and induced a fly out to end the game.

Inside the numbers (Game 2):
*Kapur was 4-4 with three runs, a double and a triple.
*McQueeney was 2-3 with three runs and three RBI.
*Erin Gorschboth, Carsyn Michaels and Riley Shupe each had two hits.
*Claire Warden threw 5 2/3 innings to move her record to 4-3 on the season.
*Shenandoah drops to 29-9 and 14-6 in the ODAC.  
 
Up Next:
*Roanoke (20-18/12-8) opens play at the ODAC Tournament Friday, with seedings to be announced by the conference office shortly.
