RC SB drops two at CNU

The Facts:

The Short story: The Roanoke College softball team had its six-game winning streak snapped Sunday, dropping a non-conference doubleheader at Christopher Newport University.  

How it happened (Game 1):
*
CNU scored two in the first and two in the third.

Inside the numbers (Game 1):
*Kiran Kapur hit her team-leading fourth triple of the season.
*Camryn Perkins and MacKenzie Samuel each threw scoreless innings of relief.
*Caroline Alger tossed a complete-game shutout for the Captains, allowing just four baserunners.  

How it happened (Game 2):
*
The Captains took a 3-0 lead into the fourth but RC made it 3-1 after Shaniya Lewis doubled and scored on a Jaden Hair single.
*CNU scored one in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth to secure the walk-off victory.

Inside the numbers (Game 2):
*Claire Warden started in the circle and held the Captains to four hits and two earned runs in her four innings.
*Mia Aiello earned the complete-game win for CNU (24-10), giving up three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.
 
Up Next:
*The Maroons (18-16) return home and to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Tuesday against Guilford College at 3 p.m. in the Moyer Complex.
