WINCHESTER, Va. - The Roanoke College baseball team snatched two important ODAC victories as they swept #5 Shenandoah on Saturday.

Records: Roanoke (19-15, 6-10), Shenandoah (28-6, 11-5)
Location: Winchester, Va. (Kevin Anderson Field at Bridgeforth Stadium)

Game 1 Notes and Notables

  • Shenandoah struck first in the bottom of the opening inning. The bats came alive for RC in the fifth though as they put up six. While SU answered back with four in the bottom half of the inning, Roanoke kept it coming in the final innings to earn the win.

  • Jack Fehlner hit his first homer of the season and the third of his career to level the score in the fifth. He also drove in what would be the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

  • Riley Fitzgerald and Chase Booth took care of business on the mound. Fitzgerald struck out four over five innings of work to get the win. Booth then came in to finish out the game, striking out four over four innings to earn his first save as a Maroon.

  • Dylan Bonzon and Kyle Tyrell each posted a team high three RBIs on two hits. Bonzon also added a walk.

Game 2 Information
Roanoke 15, #5 Shenandoah 6
Records: Roanoke (20-15, 7-10), Shenandoah (28-7, 11-6)

Game 2 Notes and Notables

  • This time RC scored first, courtesy of a Noah Donaho home run in the first. Shenandoah was ready though, posting four runs over the next two innings. The Maroons began unloading in the third inning however, going on to score in every inning from there out to steadily regain and build their advantage.

  • Derek Brooks earned his first career win after striking out one in an inning of work.

  • Clark Mileto picked up his third save as he posted three shutout innings and struck out one.

  • Donaho blasted two long balls in the game on his way to a three run, three hit, four RBI game.

  • Liam Murphy added a homer of his own as a part of his three hit, two run, two RBI performance.

  • Jack Fehlner joined in on the action, adding a two RBIs to round out the Maroons with a multi-RBI game.
