Maroon SB takes two at Randolph; won six of last seven games

The Facts:

The Short story: The Roanoke College softball team swept Randolph College Wednesday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader, and have now won six of the last seven games.  

How it happened (Game 1):
*
The Maroons opened with three runs in the first and followed with one in the third and three more in the fourth. A Kiran Kapur triple brought in the first run of the fourth and she later scored on a Riley Shupe single.

*Kapur tripled again in the fifth to make the score 8-1 and RC added an insurance run in the seventh.

Inside the numbers (Game 1):
*Erin Gorschboth went 4-4 with a double batting in the No. 2 slot.
*Carsyn Michaels drove in two runs and Shupe and Charlotte Gale scored twice.
*Ava Williams smacked a pinch hit double.
*Baylee Compton struck out six over her seven innings to earn the complete-game victory. She allowed just three hits, all singles, and three walks.  

How it happened (Game 2):
*
Roanoke went ahead 1-0 in the first but Randolph plated two runs in the fourth. The Maroons tied the game in the fifth and the contest went to extra innings.
*A runner is placed on second base in extra frames and each team took advantage to score single runs in the eighth. Haleigh Vaughan ripped a double to bring home RC's run.
*Michaels broke the game open in the top of the ninth with a three-run home run.

Inside the numbers (Game 2):
*
Grace Clary nearly went the distance in the circle for the Maroons, tossing 8 2/3 innings, allowing just two earned runs. Camryn Perkins recorded the final out.
*Vaughan was 4-5 in the second game. Michaels and Ava Colontrelle each had three hits.
*Gale had two hits and Kapur had a hit and a walk.
*Calla Christian was 2-4 with two RBI for Randolph.    
 
Up Next:
*Roanoke (16-14/8-6) travels to Bridgewater College for another ODAC twinbill Saturday at 1 p.m.
