Maroons shutdown Susquehanna in second half for 16-10 win

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team got back in the win column as they dominated the second half to pick up a 16-10 victory over Susquehanna.

How It Happened 

  • The first half was a tight matchup as both sides went on multiple runs, bringing it to 8-8 at the break.  

  • RC took control in the third quarter though, outscoring Susquehanna 6-0. The Maroons then held SU to just two goals in the fourth to grab the win. 

Notes and Notables 

  • Maddie McDonald led the charge with five goals and two assists for seven points. 

  • Sarah Brisson tallied a hat trick of goals and an assist for four points. 

  • Blair surpassed 100 career points with her assist in the second half. 

  • Eva Lennon had the first multi-goal game of her career as she posted a pair of goals. 

  • McDonald, Winpigler, and Kendall Todd each had four ground balls in the game. 

  • McDonald posted a team high seven draw controls. She moved into sixth place of the RC record books career draw controls with her fifth of the day, surpassing Lilly Blair '23. 

  • Regan Tharaldson was right behind McDonald with six draw controls in the contest. 

  • Todd made six saves between the pipes for the Maroons. 

Up Next 
Roanoke started their second game of the day against Chatham this afternoon but with just under five minutes left in the first half, the game was suspended due to lightning. The game will not be resumed; thus, the game will not be official, and any stats recorded will not count. RC is set to compete again next Saturday (Mar. 14) at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. They will face-off with #7 Gettysburg at 7:00 pm.
