SPARKS, Md. - The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team had a strong first half but couldn't find the next gear in the final 30 minutes as they were taken down by #6 Gettysburg.

How It Happened 

• RC settled in first, opening the game on a Maddie McDonald goal five minutes into the first quarter. The Maroons then held the upper hand until Gettysburg scored with just under a minute left to make it 4-3. 

• The Bullets rattled off three straight goals to open the second quarter. A McDonald unassisted goal and a pair of Zoe Blair goals helped keep RC within arm's reach as GC held the 9-6 advantage at the half. 

• Gettysburg capitalized on their draw control wins and Roanoke's turnovers in the second half to take control for the rest of the game. 

Notes and Notables 

• McDonald topped the squad in scoring with four goals on the night. 

• Zoe Blair added three points on two goals and an assist while Sydney Winpigler added a goal and a helper for two points. 

• Regan Tharaldson accounted for RC's other goal. 

• McDonald also led in draw controls with five and Eva Lennon added three. 

• Winpigler and Tharaldson also set new career highs for themselves in ground balls as Winpigler snagged five and Tharaldson picked up three. 

• Blair, Jordan Wheeler, and Emmie Verville also posted a pair of ground balls. 

• Kendall Todd made eight saves between the pipes for RC.
