The Short story: The Roanoke College softball team split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader Sunday, defeating Randolph-Macon College 4-1 in the first game but falling 3-1 in the nightcap.
How it happened (Game 1):
*After the Yellow Jackets took a brief 1-0 lead in the top of the second, Roanoke's
Haleigh Vaughan drove a two-run single up the middle for a 2-1 Maroon edge.
*The Maroons loaded the bases in the fifth looking for insurance runs and
Molly Houchins delivered with a two-run basehit.
*Junior
Baylee Compton finished what she started in the circle, allowing just one baserunner the final three frames.
Inside the numbers (Game 1):
*Compton gave up just one unearned run, four hits and two walks while fanning eight.
*Vaughan finished 2-3 and
Ava Colontrelle had a hit and a walk.
How it happened (Game 2):
*Heather McQueeney gave Roanoke an early 1-0 lead. She led the game off with a single, stole second and came around to score after two Yellow Jacket miscues. Â
*R-MC plated three in the fourth inning, aided by an error and two infield singles.
Inside the numbers (Game 2):
* Randolph-Macon's (13-11/2-4 ODAC) Sierra Kegley limited the Maroons to just two hits and no walks.

Grace Clary threw a complete game for RC, allowing five hits, one earned run and one walk. Â
