The Short story: Despite an outstanding pitching performance from
Baylee Compton in game one and a huge rally in game two, the Roanoke College softball team dropped both ends of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader at the University of Lynchburg Sunday.
How it happened (Game 1):
*The teams were tied after seven frames and in extra innings, a runner is placed on second base to start each inning. The Hornets capitalized with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the ninth.
Inside the numbers (Game 1):
*Compton threw a complete game six-hitter, the run in the ninth counts as an unearned run.

Riley Shupe went 3-4 with a stolen base.
*
Carsyn Michaels was 3-3.
*The Maroons left 11 runners on base, including three in the seventh. Â
How it happened (Game 2):
*The Hornets opened a 6-3 lead heading into the seventh, but RC scored four to go ahead 7-6.
Kiran Kapur hit a two-run single in the inning and Lynchburg tied the game with a single run in the bottom half of the frame.
*Roanoke opened a six-run lead with six runs in the top of the eighth.
Molly Houchins and
Allie Bell each hit two-run doubles and
Haleigh Vaughan followed with a two-run single
. Lynchburg walked off with its second win of the day with seven runs in the eighth.
Inside the numbers (Game 2):
*Houchins was 3-5 with two doubles and four RBI.
*Shupe, Michaels, Vaughan and Kapur each had two hits. Â
