Maroons Win 3 Events, Finish 4th at ODAC Championships

SALEM, Va. – The Roanoke women's track & field team recorded three first-place finishes and garnered eight total all-conference citations at the conference indoor meet.

Notes and Notables
  • The Maroons swept the three All-ODAC honors in the 60m hurdles. Ophelia Ladner won the event with a time of 8.905 seconds, finishing four one-thousandths of a second ahead of Olivia Viers at 8.909; both athletes are part of a tie for 34th in the country. Rebecca Carr placed third in the event with a mark of 8.99 seconds.
  • Lindsey Hobin claimed first in the 200m with a school-record time of 25.23 seconds, breaking the mark set by Robin Yerkes back in 2010. She now ranks 30th in Division III. Mae Kaufman also scored in the race, coming in eighth at 26.37.
  • Roanoke won the 4x400 relay, as Ladner, Kaufman, Hobin and Maryrose Molina-Shuman set an ODAC meet record with a time of 3:58.49.
  • Hobin added an all-conference designation in the 400m, finishing as the runner-up at 57.54 seconds.
  • Nalonda Henderson snagged All-ODAC laurels in the 60m, coming in third with a mark of 7.90 seconds.
  • Rylie Nolte scored for the Maroons in two events. She finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.75m, and she landed in sixth place in the pole vault at 2.53m.
  • The Maroons had previously taken second place in Saturday's distance medley relay, providing all-conference recognition for Shuman, Allie Gallaher, Nadira Cantey and Ava Wray.
  • Roanoke finished fourth overall in the team table with 88 points, just behind third-place Bridgewater (92 points). Washington and Lee won the team competition with 195.5 points, and Lynchburg came in second with 113 markers.
Up Next: The Maroons will send competitors to final qualifiers at both Wartburg and Shenandoah next weekend.
