How It Happened

  • The Maroons came hot out the gate, scoring nine unanswered points to open the game. They keep the momentum going, and by the end of the period RC had a 20-9 advantage.

  • It was a much different story in the second as EMU heated up, especially from the three-point line, and RC cooled off.  Roanoke did enough to hold onto the lead, going into the break at 34-33.

  • RC regained their edge quickly though in the third, opening with eight straight points, and came out of the period up 52-45.

  • It was a bit slower of a fourth quarter offensively for both sides, but the Maroons were able to hold off EMU to pick up the 65-56 victory.

Notes and Notables

  • Freshman Cecilia Robinson topped the squad in scoring with 12 points as she went 4-8 from the field and added four free throws.

  • Robinson's fellow freshman, Moriah Tate, was right behind with 11 points. Tate also dished out a team high three assists while picking up two steals on the evening.

  • Abigail Rice rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points on a 4-7 day from the field, which included 2-2 from three.

  • Ashley Fowler grabbed eight boards to lead the Maroons. Alicea Farmer and Robinson were close behind with seven rebounds each.
