Rutkowski hits career mark as Maroons fall in Pennsylvania

GREENVILLE, Pa. - Senior Jackson Rutkowski eclipsed 700 career kills as the Maroons dropped two tightly contested battles in Pennsylvania. 
 
Game 1 Information

Game 1 Notes and Notables 

  • All four sets were close with the final two requiring extra points. Thiel took the first set, 25-21, before RC grabbed the second at 25-20. Thiel then finished out the game with 34-32 and 26-24 set victories. 

  • CJ Kingston also posted a new career high with 17 digs. Rutkowski was right behind him with 14 in the contest. 

  • Mendoza had a team leading seven blocks, recording one solo and six assisted stops.

Game 2 Notes and Notables 

  • It was another tightly contested match that saw the Maroons take the first and fourth sets (25-23 and 25-21) to force a fifth set. RC ultimately fell in that final set 15-13. 

  • Rutkowski also led in kills for match two, tallying 12. His combined 25 kills on the day put him at 717 career kills, making him just the second Maroon to surpass the 700 mark. The first to do so was his fellow senior Michael Cummins

  • Pierce Faulcon wasn't far behind Rutkowski in the match, recording 9 kills. He also had five blocks. 

  • Houser topped the squad in assists with 27 while Moran added 12. 

  • After setting a new career mark in the first match, Kingston tied it in the second with a team high 17 digs. Houser also made it into the double digits with 11 digs. 

  • Colin Mendoza led in blocks with nine in the match, one solo and eight assisted. 

Up Next  
The Maroons make their way back to the Keystone State next Saturday (Feb. 7), this time to Elizabethtown. They are scheduled to face Hood at 1:00 pm and Elizabethtown at 3:00 pm.
